LA GRANDE BELLEZZA is a music concert connected to Jewish culture in various ways. The energy released by the String Symphonies of Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, the deep emotion of Mahler’s Adagietto, the elegiac spirit of Paul Hindemith’s Trauermusik (a German composer with a paradoxical relationship with Nazi Germany, forced to leave Germany because of his Jewish wife and friends and as a composer of "degenerate music"), the visionary world of Kurt Weill’s Youkali (also forced to flee to the USA), the subdued and powerful singing of the second movement of Henryk Górecki’s Symphony No. 3 (based on the text of an inscription found in the cell of a Gestapo prisoner), and finally John Williams’s theme from Schindler’s List, together form a fresco that perfectly describes the varied range of expressions that this culture has generated over time and the many ways in which artists have reacted in their own way to the disgrace of Nazism and the Shoah. The SonoraCorda ensemble, founded by Valentino Corvino, is a chamber orchestra that has given many concerts in Italy and made several recordings. Soprano Anna Cimmarrusti, a promising artist who is establishing herself on the international opera scene, is a student at the Scuola dell’Opera of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna. Valentino Corvino, composer, violinist and conductor, has performed worldwide as a soloist and in chamber and orchestral ensembles, exploring the most diverse musical genres. He has conducted some of the most prestigious Italian orchestras including the orchestras of the "Comunale" in Bologna, the "Regio" in Turin and the "Massimo" in Palermo, the "Arturo Toscanini Philharmonic" in Parma and the Istituzione Sinfonica Abruzzese. He has composed music for theatre (around twenty productions for about 800 performances), cinema, dance, musicals and opera, collaborating with leading artists on the international scene.
