Joseph Cohen Hemsi was a multifaceted intellectual, in contact with figures such as Pirandello and Camus, and he exerted considerable influence in the cultural circles of Alexandria in the thirties and forties. A profoundly Jewish and secular soul, a convinced Zionist and liberal. One of the recurring threads of his writings is the need for a Jewish State, bearing witness to how the anti-Semitic plague had not subsided even after the horrors of the Shoah. Speakers: Giuseppe Cecere, University of Bologna, Angelo Piattelli, editorial board of the UCEI magazine Rassegna Mensile di Israel, Cecilia Cohen Hemsi Nizza, Hevràt Yehudé Italia Be-Israel, Sharon Nizza, Hebrew Univesity of Jerusalem Israel.
